Inspired by the natural landscape and guided by the Wiradjuri word \u201cBelah\u201d \u2013 meaning \u201cSun\u201d \u2013 the residence is positioned as a model for net-positive design in the Australian housing sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe wanted to create <strong>a home that feels connected to the land<\/strong>, just as the river carves its own path through the environment. Every decision in this build was made with sustainability, rejuvenation and longevity in mind.\u201d, Durie says. \u201cWe had to find a way of meandering the house or wrapping the house around all the existing trees but also making the most in stepping down the levels on the terraced front here so we could maximize the views towards the waterfront.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spanning a steep 37-degree slope in a protected zone filled with native spotted gum trees, the house was carefully constructed to work with the land rather than against it.
