South Tyrol confirms itself, also for the next season, as an unmissable destination for food and wine lovers. Autumn here is a magical period, characterized by an explosion of colors and flavors. An invitation to discover the richness of the region’s winemaking and cultural traditions, immersed in a natural landscape of incomparable beauty.

“Wine enthusiasts,” explains Andreas Kofler, president of the South Tyrol Wine Consortium, a reality that has always been committed to promoting the region’s wine culture, “love to discover the territory where their favorite wines are born. In addition to tastings and winery visits, there is an ever-increasing demand for immersive and complete experiences that our region is able to offer thanks to the synergy of the various local realities linked by the common goal of promoting the territory as a whole.”

L’ultimo carico d’uva: A Glimpse into South Tyrol’s Winemaking Traditions

On October 7th, Cornaiano will become the stage for an ancient tradition during “L’ultimo carico d’uva” (The Last Grape Harvest). As per ancient customs, the last harvest will be transported to the church square on a decorated cart, and then pressed in a historic press. This event, enriched by the presence of the “Saltner,” the traditional guardian of the vineyards, celebrates the end of the harvest with a tasting of fresh must, offering visitors an authentic taste of local history and culture.

Melodie di Vini: Music and Wine in the South Tyrolean castles

For lovers of wine and music, the South Tyrol Wine Road will light up with musical notes from October 18th to November 2nd, thanks to the “Melodie di Vini” event. Within the “TangoFusion” program, the incredible combination of bandoneon, clarinet, and piano of Windkraft will provide the soundtrack for a series of concerts in the suggestive castles of the area. Each performance will be accompanied by a tasting of the region’s best wines, for an experience that combines music and flavors in a unique historical setting.

Vicolo del Vino: A Lively Festival for Wine Lovers

Vicolo del Vino” will animate Termeno on October 19th with a festival that will take visitors far from their daily routine. From 2:30 pm to midnight, it will be possible to stroll among the stands, tasting the wines of local wineries and immersing yourself in the lively atmosphere of the alley, where each glass tells a different story.

Grape Festival Merano: A Colorful Celebration since 1886

In Merano, two events will frame the autumn. The Grape Festival, on October 19th and 20th, a tradition that since 1886 has become a fixed appointment in the city’s social life, whose streets will be filled with stalls with local products, autumn dishes, and fine wines. The highlight will be the traditional parade, in which over 60 bands and decorated floats will participate, an opportunity to immerse yourself in South Tyrolean traditions.

Merano WineFestival: A World-Class Wine Event

Finally, from November 8th to 12th, one of the most renowned enogastronomic events in Europe will be held, the prestigious Merano WineFestival, which, within the Kurhaus, will welcome producers and visitors from all over the world. During the event, there will be an opportunity to taste excellent wines and culinary specialties, participate in conferences, guided tours, and awards, exploring the latest trends in the international food and wine world.

The enological proposals for cycling enthusiasts also continue in autumn. Expert Bike Wine Ambassadors can accompany wine tourists on personalized bike tours through all the wine-growing areas of the territory.

There are many attractions that South Tyrol offers this season: while the skilled hands of the farmers work on the harvest, the landscape gradually transforms into a magical expanse of colors with warm red and gold tones, the air fills with enveloping scents, and nature gives its fruits. From typical local products – such as the traditional snack or Törggelen – to fine wines, from immersive walks in nature to excursions on two wheels among the vineyards, to the many events organized in the various cities or by the Wineries.
