Cultural milestones set the seasonal pace, led by the ongoing Le Vie dei Tesori festival running through November: rare architectural openings and guided explorations shape bespoke routes steeped in art, taste, and quiet wellbeing.
Sicily Autumn Travel: The Metropolitan & Volcanic Hubs
October 9 – November 15: Palermo
Woven between heritage visits, restorative breaks punctuate the capital. In the historic core, culinary craft commands attention at Gagini, led by executive chef Tiziana Francoforte, alongside chef Alberto Rizzo’s Osteria dei Vespri and MEC Restaurant directed by chef Carmelo Trentacosti. Across town, two boutique addresses anchor overnight stays: the storied salons of the Grand Hotel et Des Palmes and the curated intimacy of Hotel Palazzo Brunaccini, positioned steps from the vibrant Ballarò market.
October 10 – November 8: Catania
Catania opens ancient thermal bath complexes, aristocratic palazzi, and volcanic terrain paths. In the old center, sensory dining thrives at Coria, directed by chefs Domenico Colonnetta and Francesco Patti, and chef Alessandro Ingiulla’s Sapio, while Bastiò Suites provides discreet, elegant quarters.
The route climbs naturally toward Mount Etna, weaving charming hospitality together with volcanic cooking. On the coastal slopes, chef Piergiorgio Alecci guides the kitchen at Donna Carmela, followed in Riposto by Zash under chef Giuseppe Raciti, and in Linguaglossa by Shalai, steered by chef Giovanni Santoro. Rest and alpine regeneration continue toward Zafferana Etnea at luxury estate Monaci delle Terre Nere, or inside the noble country halls of Viagrande’s Relais San Giuliano.
Sicily Autumn Travel: Regional Circuits & Historic Valleys
October 10 – 25: Caltanissetta, Corleone, Marsala, Sciacca, Termini Imerese, Santa Flavia & Castelvetrano
Archaeology, inland hamlets, and sweeping scenery map central and western Sicily. Caltanissetta reopens noble residences and exhibition galleries, while the surrounding hills lead to Niscemi’s Feudi del Pisciotto, a wine relais immersed in vineyards. The itinerary traverses Corleone before dropping down to Marsala for coastal plates at Le Lumie under chef Emanuele Russo, continuing along the sea toward Sciacca and Termini Imerese. Santa Flavia’s maritime air and Castelvetrano’s surrounding rural plains complete the crossing.
October 24 – November 15: Ragusa
Across the Val di Noto, Ibla’s late-Baroque façades stand alongside secluded corners: private courtyards, ancient stone quarries, and labyrinthine underground galleries. The southeastern towns house exceptional culinary references. Within Ragusa Ibla, Locanda Don Serafino under chef Vincenzo Candiano unites a boutique hotel and stone-vaulted dining inside a historic residence. The journey then reaches the sea at Marina di Ragusa with Votavota, led by chefs Giuseppe Causarano and Antonio Colombo, before turning inland to Modica for precision cooking at Lorenzo Ruta Restaurant and reimagined island memories at Radici – L’Osteria di Accursio by chef Accursio Craparo.
Narrating Sicily through historic stones, expressive culinary tables, and curated lodgings reveals an island rich in depth far beyond the summer season.
