Abaccabianca 2022: The white wines of Piedmont on stage

On May 14th and 15th Abaccabianca, the itinerant event organized by the sommeliers of Ais Asti, is back. The best white wines of Piedmont will be on stage in Vignale Monferrato.

Piedmont, land of great red wines but also of great white wines: from Gavi to Timorasso, from Alta Langa to Moscato d’Asti, from Erbaluce to Arneis up to ancient and rare vines such as Baratuciat and Caricalasino.

Abaccabianca, now in its fifth edition after two years of a forced hiatus, will be hosted in one of the most beautiful palaces of Monferrato, Palazzo Callori, bringing to life to a two-day event where fans, connoisseurs and professionals of the wine industry will be presented with 180 labels at the tasting tables including sparkling wines, still whites, and vermouth.

“We have always wanted to raise the level and our work has not stopped even in these two years. – explains Paolo Poncino, delegate of Ais Asti and organizer of Abaccabianca – Our sommeliers have been touring wineries for some time to discover new products and producers. The idea is to provide a complete overview of everything Piedmont offers in the white grape sector, with all the nuances deriving from winemaking techniques, different vintages, agronomic styles or company size.”

The novelties proposed will be many: 15 white vermouths will also be tasted. The guest wine of 2022 is Verdicchio with 10 labels in the tasting. The collaboration with Uvantica will be renewed in order to propose a counter dedicated to 20 rare white wines from Piedmont.

Sommeliers will be in charge of the presentation and the pouring of wines at the tasting benches, divided by areas and types. The food area is organized in collaboration with Bistrotmania, a company that unites nine Piedmontese restaurants: Scannabue, Il bistrot del Nazionale di Vernante, Smocking bar, Silos cucina sincera, Gaudenzio vini, Luogo Divino, XXL cafè, Contesto Alimentare and Razzo.

There will be two in-depth areas of Abaccabianca, with a tasting desk dedicated to the terroir of Moscato d’Asti DOCG with the collaboration of the Consortium of Asti; and another to Vermouth with the collaboration of the Consortium of Vermouth of Turin.
