The Aesthetic Codes and Arch-Decorative Soul of Outdoor Lighting

Estrous elegance, versatility of use, and durable materials: these are the qualities that characterize the outdoor collections of Contardi Lighting, an Italian brand that is internationally recognized for the development of custom and large-scale lighting projects that bear the signatures of some of the world’s most prestigious architectural firms.

The Aesthetic Code of Contardi Lighting

As with the indoor models, Contardi’s outdoor lamps express the unmistakable arch-decorative character of the company based in Cesano Maderno, the heart of the Made in Italy furniture design district. An avant-garde vision, which has skillfully woven into each product the company’s well-established lighting know-how, the legacy of the genius of light, founder Michele Carcano, and distinctive aesthetic codes, the result of continuous research and collaborations with internationally renowned designers and planners.

Outdoor Lighting in Style

Contardi’s outdoor lighting collections emanate a variegated iris of shapes and colors, a multiplicity of styles and inspirations ranging from tropical suggestions to minimalist reinterpretations of archetypal patterns.

The ability to adapt these lights to en plein air use is made possible by the use of high-quality materials, carefully selected to adapt to outdoor environments and withstand the elements. IP65 certification, an index of the products’ water resistance, anti-corrosion treatment of metals by cataphoresis, and water-repellent fabrics meet the highest standards required by the market.

Added to this is the implementation of a line of battery-powered lamps, giving rise to smart products with a strong innovative component, capable of ensuring greater flexibility of use than their wired counterparts.

The result is attractive outdoor lighting that is discreet in its footprint, pragmatic and reliable. Each lamp becomes a vehicle for unique lighting, from both functional and formal points of view, capable of conferring dreamlike atmospheres to gardens, verandas, terraces, and ships.

Lagoon

Lagoon, designed by Servomuto, returns to an unconventional use, as decontextualized from the outdoor environment. The collection draws inspiration from Typha, a plant found on the banks of rivers and lakes, whose simple and essential form exudes a natural grace and elegance. Available in three different heights, each lamp can form a single lighting element or create together with the others a harmonious ensemble, a luminous forest.

In addition to the version with a base, there is also a peg option available, directly planted in the ground, evoking the connection with the plant even more evocatively and blending naturally with the outdoor environment.

Tenebra

Tenebra, a pendant lamp that combines Jan Van Lierde’s minimal design and formal purity with the technological and functional cutting edge of Contardi Lighting. In addition to the wired model, the product is also available in an innovative waterproof battery-powered version with up to 9 hours of battery life, rechargeable via USB port. Tenebra can be easily hung from cables, branches, pergolas, outdoor tents, and rigging. In the exclusive Crystal model, the appeal of the lamp is amplified by a set of elegant synthetic crystal diffusers, from which the light emanates soft and mottled, a magically tangible three-dimensional presence.

Calypso

Calypso, already a Contardi best seller in its indoor version, conveys a world of bright colors and shapes inspired by art deco motifs. Servomuto’s refined design and tailoring, with the exclusive material detail of the sailor-style rope, are guaranteed and preserved by using waterproof and fireproof fabrics, suitable to withstand any weather and extreme temperatures. The lampshades are embellished with geometric textures in black and white, combined with the vivid tones typical of South American culture.

The Calypso range expands with XL-format pendants and two floor-standing versions, single and with a small table, offering great adaptability to any type of open-air environment.

Babu

Babu was born from the collaboration between Contardi and Massimiliano Raggi, designed to surprise, it traces a bright and unexpected sign in the space. Collection with a strong personality, thanks to the scenic presence of the large lampshade, made with three-dimensional digital printing technology on outdoor fabrics.

A solution that gives depth and creates optical games of hypnotic charm, declined in two texture variants: Textile, with velvet trimmings, and Tribal, characterized by overlapping geometric designs. Technical fabrics and a steel base treated to resist corrosion are gale-proof, making Babu the ideal product for ships and boats.

Cube

Cube, designed by Massimiliano Raggi, is among the lanterns Contardi offers as a solution for lighting outdoor spaces with ease, charm, and class. A durable and versatile outdoor product that – available in two sizes and in both wired and battery-operated versions, in addition to possessing an innovative ignition system – can be recharged without moving the product from its location, simply by removing the battery-operated body and plugging it in.

With the outdoor lighting collections, Contardi confirms its reputation as the “Couturier of Light,” and its independent ability to anticipate trends with lighting solutions with a highly innovative edge, supported by an absolutely avant-garde technological compartment and a decisive and attractive design.
