Borgobrufa Spa Resort in Beautiful Umbria

Nestled in the hills of Italy’s region of Umbria lies Borgobrufa Spa Resort a retreat that is just a short ride from Perugia. The resort is an oasis for wellness and relaxation. Here, surrounded by breathtaking views of rolling Umbrian hills, we can take a break from the frenzy of our busy days and enjoy a top-notch spa and sophisticated hideaway.

Borgobrufa is located in a medieval village. Andrea and Ivana Sfascia, owners of the resort and spa, first discovered the antique building in 2002. They immediately fell in love with the place which was once the country estate of a noble family dating back to the 18th century. They had the villa carefully restored and established the Country House Borgobrufa which eventually grew to include the Resort & Spa and is now the largest top-rated spa in the region.

The Spa and Location

The resort lies on 1200 square meters of land in the calm of the gently curving hills and small roads of Italy’s heartland. Guests at the spa are looked after by 16 professionals and pampered with choices of over 77 different treatments for face and body. Borgobrufa’s extensive list of soothing treatments uses only natural products and lavishes the skin with ingredients such as extra virgin olive oil, wine, chocolate, and hazelnuts.

The serenity which accompanies guests throughout their stay is discernible from the moment you arrive. Take a deep breath, it’s time to unwind. The exclusive ambiance is dedicated to adult guests only

The luxurious architecture and furnishings blend in seamlessly with the surroundings and tradition of the area. Each room is decorated according to Umbrian traditions with wooden beams on the ceilings, warm colors, and wooden furniture. Some of the rooms have their own sitting area where guests can relax in front of a warm fireplace and offer a private pool off of the room for a completely exclusive experience. The Imperial Suite has an infrared sauna, jacuzzi, and private pool along with antique furnishings and a large sitting room.

Enjoy Wines and Fine Dining

Outside, the spa is encircled by private gardens and 12 acres of vineyards and olive groves which all belong to the resort. Borgobrufa produces its own extra virgin olive oil and two prestigious Umbrian wines. Its red, Nobile del Borgo, is an intense blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet produced with the barrique method using small oak barrels to age the wine for a short period of time. Borgobrufa’s white wine, Poggio Belvedere, is an elegant white perfect for an aperitif and lighter dishes.

Borgobrufa Spa Resort also boasts the Ristorante Quattro Sensi run by the chef Chef Andrea Impero. The restaurant takes care to spoil its diners with delicious traditional Umbrian dishes. Guests can choose from two menus. The first, Menù della Tradizione, uses seasonal ingredients to recreate some of the area’s finest foods, while the second menu, Menù Campagna Amica, utilizes only local organic ingredients each of which is carefully selected directly from producers.

Diners may also pick from the à la carte menu which offers an array of seafood and international creations sure to satisfy the most discerning palate. Tuck into delicious antipasti like deep-fried pumpkin flower stuffed with Cetara anchovies, buffalo mozzarella, and zucchini purée, or the Roman-style artichoke au gratin with fresh goat cheese and Poggio Aquilone lentil sauce.

Enjoy a fine list of first courses of Risoni di Gragnano “Pastificio dei Campi” in Corbarini sauce “Casa Marrazzo” with Adriatic prawns and lemon or handmade ravioli filled with Colforcella pecorino cheese and served with fresh string beans and tomato concassé.

For the mains, choose from scrumptious dishes such as “Etrusco” lean beef cooked at low temperature with asparagus caponata, pine nuts, and raisins, served with a spring Panzanella sauce, or the Wild pork “Terra Umbra” glazed with acacia honey “Le Guardie” and zucchini millefeuille “alla scapece.”
