Curated by Concetta Giannangeli, the Medley series bridges ancient Indian metalworking traditions with Gervasoni’s 140-year heritage of material research, creating sculptural coffee tables and airy wire pendants shaped by honest craftsmanship.
Material Truth and Cultural Dialogue
Design identity takes root long before a sketch hits paper. It begins in the workshop, driven by ancestral gestures and raw matter. For Italian heritage brand Gervasoni—established in 1882 in Pavia di Udine and celebrated for its tactile dialogue between craft culture and industrial precision—material exploration remains the core design language. In the Medley collection, design curator Concetta Giannangeli directs this ethos toward the historic artisan districts of Delhi and Moradabad, India. By engaging directly with multi-generational metalworking workshops, Giannangeli translates living craft heritage into a series of refined ready-made objects.
The subtle irregularities of craftsmanship are not concealed, but embraced as an integral part of the design, lending authenticity and uniqueness to every piece. The resulting furniture and lighting articulate Gervasoni’s enduring commitment to authentic living spaces, blending global artisanal savoir-faire with contemporary interior architecture.
Sculptural Tables in Cast and Polished Aluminium
The Medley 42 and 48 low tables reframe the traditional pedestal silhouette through modern spatial proportions. Cast in solid aluminium, the surfaces undergo an acid-etched treatment that reveals a rich, tactile grain. The vibrant matte finish turns every tabletop into an expressive focal point, highlighting the density of raw metal.
In contrast, the Medley 40 side table treats aluminium with monolithic purity. Carved from a single block of high-gloss polished metal, balanced overlapping volumes create multi-level functional planes while preserving clean geometric lines. The mirror-like finish catches changing natural light and surrounding architectural elements, creating lively visual dialogue within the room.
Graphic Lighting Inspired by Woven Traditions
Suspension lighting within the collection introduces lightness and transparency. The Medley 95 and 96 pendant lamps feature low, wide conical profiles crafted from galvanized steel wire finished through galvanic baths. Drawing structural inspiration from traditional bamboo basketry, the radial wire weave fans outward toward the base, casting soft, layered shadow patterns while maintaining an open, architectural presence.
Corporate Heritage and Global Scope
Under the leadership of third-generation directors Giovanni and Michele Gervasoni, the brand continues to expand across high-end residential, hospitality, and marine sectors in more than 80 countries. Operating from its historic manufacturing hub in Pavia di Udine, the company pairs Friulian artisanal heritage with a global design vision, solidifying its role within the Dexelance group. Alongside sister brand Very Wood and Slovenian label Rex Kralj, it unites century-old craft insight with international manufacturing scale.
