The jewel that has been telling a story of refined and exclusive Sicilian hospitality since 1969 reopens at Easter in Cefalù. Nine new sea-facing suites, engaging experiences to discover the area and a seasonal gastronomic proposal of excellence by Chef Dario Pandolfo.
There is a growing desire for the warm season and a rebirth of the desire for the sea and unspoiled nature, such as that found in Sicily, queen of all-season destinations: right on the island, along the fascinating coast of Cefalù, Le Calette, an oasis of peace managed for 55 years by the Cacciola-Miccichè family, reopens on March 28th.
For Le Calette, the year 2024 brings with it the completion of nine new beachfront suites, the proposal of new and original experiences to discover the beauty and richness of the area, and the excellent gastronomic offerings of Chef Dario Pandolfo.
With the lush nature in which it is immersed, the wonderful overlooks directly on the crystal clear waters and, behind it, one of the most beautiful natural theaters, the Madonie Park – UNESCO Geopark – representing a unique habitat to be discovered, Le Calette has established itself among the most attractive, and still “whispered”, destinations in Sicily.
Le Calette: The New Lotus Cabanas
Le Calette expands and renews its spaces, with the creation of a new nucleus of nine sea-view suites, immersed in the hotel’s lush Mediterranean park: the Lotus Cabana.
A new housing typology distinguished by the intimacy of a private garden equipped with a Jacuzzi and the quiet of the nature in which it is immersed. The design is inspired by Mediterranean architecture and its natural tones, with furniture elements in olive wood and shades of taupe and hazelnut, in harmony and chromatic continuity with the outdoor environment.
A further step to make the hospitality of Le Calette even more attractive and to meet the needs of all those guests who wish to enjoy the wonderful surrounding nature, in total privacy.
Le Calette: Chef Dario Pandolfo
Since 2022, Dario Pandolfo has been the Chef at the helm of Cala Luna, fine dining proposal of Le Calette Hotel. Thanks to his personality and skills, Cala Luna has, in a very short time, established itself as one of the best new dining establishments in southern Italy.
From June to September, the restaurant opens onto a large lawn under the stars of Cefalù, with a scenic open kitchen and the gaze sweeping freely over the moon’s reflections on the sea, the stacks of Caldura Bay and the Rock of Cefalù. During the cooler months, it moves to an elegant panoramic room in shades of creamy white with china, ceramics, crystal and furnishings inspired by noble Sicilian tables.
Chef Pandolfo presents a lively and local cuisine proposal, reinterpreted in a contemporary key and developed entirely to enhance the immense gastronomic heritage of the territory, respecting seasonality and origin. Nature is the source of inspiration, the raw material is carefully selected through a chain of farmers, breeders, fishermen and producers who work ethically and sustainably.
His tasting menus are the full expression of what it means for Dario to cook in his homeland, two journeys together with the Chef: “Come to Sicily with me” and “Sicilian Freedoms” to enhance the authentic gastronomic richness of the island.
Le Calette: discovering land and sea
The experiences created by Le Calette aim to convey the values and historical and cultural background of Sicily to its travelers. “Greeting the Sun” on the imposing Rocca di Cefalù, a UNESCO site, tours guided by art and history experts to the wonders of the town or the “twin” Norman sites, and fun cooking classes to discover Sicily’s rich pastry tradition are just a few examples of the varied range of experiences on offer.
This year, the exciting new feature is the purchase of a private boat designed for all those curious travelers and sea enthusiasts. With the arrival of a 13.5-meter offshore dinghy, it will be possible to dive off Cefalù’s most beautiful beaches to the Aeolian Islands and enjoy an aperitif at sunset or a candlelight dinner in front of the town’s charming historic center.
