A Unique Limited Edition Valdobbiadene DOCG Single-Vineyard Glera from Druisan

The three-year project “Le RIVE, la nostra FIEREZZA” is now joined by the second Valdobbiadene DOCG enhancing Glera grapes produced from a single vineyard, chosen from one of the Rive owned by the Drusian winery.

A Single-Vineyard Glera of Distinction

It is a small vineyard located at 150 meters above sea level, surrounded by woods and benefiting from constant ventilation, decisive factors in preserving the freshness and aromaticity that only Glera grapes bred in the hills can bring.

The location is Colfosco, a hamlet of Susegana, in the province of Treviso: this is the birthplace of the second wine to become part of the three-year project called “Le RIVE, la nostra FIEREZZA” created by the Drusian winery, a historic entity operating in the heart of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene DOCG, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Drusian’s Quest to Expressthe Rive

“After the debut in 2022 of Valdobbiadene DOCG Rive di Collalto, it is now time to present the second wine that becomes part of our project dedicated to the enhancement of the Rive,” says Francesco Drusian, the third generation at the helm of the family business, which with 80 hectares of vineyards represents among the most extensive properties within the territory of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG appellation. “The Rive are vineyards located on the steepest slopes of our hilly territory: each of them manages to express a different peculiarity of soil, exposure and microclimate, which gives the grapes grown in that particular vineyard unique characteristics.”

The new Valdobbiadene DOCG Rive di Colfosco, produced in only 6600 bottles in a limited edition, was born on a compact clay soil, characterized by warm brown tones and interspersed with rocks that contribute to give a typical mineral character to this Valdobbiadene DOCG, which is obtained by second fermentation in autoclave, according to the Martinotti-Charmat Method, with a long stay on the lees for 140 days.

The special microclimate present in Colfosco allows, even in years in which particularly high temperatures are reached, to preserve the fundamental aromaticity of the Glera grapes.

In the glass, Valdobbiadene DOCG Rive di Colfosco has a distinctive straw yellow color with greenish highlights. Its perlage is particularly fine and persistent and is expressed on the nose with characteristic notes reminiscent of Golden apple, along with delicate hints of acacia flowers and hawthorn. The palate has a sip of great freshness, with a mineral and fruity finish of excellent persistence and harmony. Served in a wide tulip-shaped glass, to allow its aromas to emerge very naturally, and at a temperature of 6-8 °C, it can accompany many culinary preparations, especially main courses of fish, including raw fish, and white meats.
