Quality, service, history, and a passion for Morellino di Scansano, these are the hallmarks of the Ambassadors that the Consorzio Tutela del Morellino seeks out in the restaurants selected to join the club.
The Sangiovese by the Sea
Morellino di Scansano, with its distinctive characteristics, is the perfect match for many dishes of the Italian culinary tradition and beyond. Ideal for accompanying typical Tuscan and Maremman recipes, it also proves to be an excellent wine to pair with fish, fusion cuisine, and gourmet pizza. Its eclectic characteristics allow the precious nectar to be on the cards of a wide variety of restaurants and wine shops, both by the glass and by the bottle.
With the project “The Ambassadors of Morellino,” the Consortium aims to select restaurants that can transmit the passion and knowledge of the wine to their customers, showcasing the many facets and along with the distinctiveness of the wine also known as the “Sangiovese overlooking the sea.”
The First Morellino Ambassadors
The first Ambassador to be nominated is the Caino restaurant in Montemerano, which has for 25 consecutive years earned itself two Michelin stars. Owners of the award-winning restaurant Chef Valeria Piccini and her son Andrea Menichetti continue to successfully represent, through their work, dedication, excellence and love for the territory, its raw materials and Morellino, its most representative wine.
The second restaurante selected to be a Morellimo Ambassador is Trattoria Da Burde in Florence, where a cuisine attentive to tradition, carried on by Paolo Gori, is accompanied by Andrea Gori’s great knowledge of wines. The location was recently awarded another important recognition, that of best trattoria in Italy. At Burde’s, Morellino is at home, offered continuously to its guests, always guaranteeing an excellent assortment of labels and a focus on telling the story of the territory.
A Growing Future for Morellino di Scansano
The project will continue in the coming months and will involve other Ambassadors and new cities, including Milan and Rome, with the aim of creating a network that, with great professionalism and passion, enhances and promotes the wine, both in Italy and around the world.
