Archaic, minimalist and multifunctional, three words which deliver the essential style of Rock Air, the new outdoor kitchen by Steininger, presented this April at Eurocucina 2016 during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Milan’s annual design expo. Rock Air’s design is based on another of Steininger’s kitchens, Rock, winner of the German Design Award 2016 and created by Alberto Minotti. Rock was designed in honor of Donald Judd and Adolf Loos.
Rock Air is less about form, color or material, and rather places a greater focus on quality crafting – an ideal fusion of Italian design and Austrian craftsmanship. Both Rock and Rock Air are made up of minimalist cubes which can be combined and merged to allow for an easy use of its multitude functions, including a gas barbecue, sink, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, ice-maker, stove and storage space.
The surfaces of this outdoor kitchen are made with stainless steel in an anthracite finish and coated with innovative glass-ceramic, creating a sophisticated look that is absolutely resistant to all types of weather and even to sea air. Each block of Rock Air can be turned and used as a bar top for serving. “Our goal was to demonstrate that it’s possible to cook outdoors year round. Where you are doesn’t matter,” affirmed Harald Aichinger, Managing Director of Steininger International.
