Two Variations for One Kitchen: Tivalì 2.0 by Dada

Tivalì 2.0 by Yabu Pushelberg

Dada’s Tivalì, an integrated kitchen for all spaces designed by Dante Bonuccelli in 2004 and forerunner of the “Everything in a Small Space” concept,” is interpreted in a new project by Yabu Pushelberg, where technology and design combine to result in perfect presentation.

The kitchen is a place dedicated to relationships: friendships, families, stories, the union of ingredients. Tivalì is the story of how these ingredients are integrated,” explains Yabu Pushelberg. “Tasked with designing a new iteration of the existing collection, we explored how the language of kitchen design can be modernized while respecting tradition. By reflecting on the customs and rituals associated with cooking and analyzing current design, our approach celebrates Tivalì as an environment that instills a sense of community and nurtures belonging.”

“Rather than designing the kitchen as a unique place within the home, we renovated Tivalì by thinking of it as an open, expressive, and inviting environment, evolving the design of the kitchen system through form, proportion, and materials. Together, the elements of Tivalì create an environment where traditions can be shared, memories created, and senses ignited,” Pushelberg continues.

The concept that guided the design was to have a kitchen, included in a linear space between 2.40 and 3 meters, where the scenic element prevails, and cooking reaches its highest expression, likened to an actor’s performance on stage.

Like all theatrical stages, the curtain hides the scene, revealed only in the presence of the actors, so Tivalì 2.0 by Yabu Pushelberg presents itself as a large closed cabinet that at first glance does not reveal its precious contents. Two large sliding packet doors guard the scene and once opened, thanks to sophisticated mechanisms, they fall back side by side into the outline of the container, revealing it.

The aluminum honeycomb doors can be configured in different range finishes, allowing the exterior of Tivalì 2.0 by Yabu Pushelberg to be given several possible interpretations.

The new sliding door mechanism is revolutionized, losing the base and lower carriage, but without losing the fluidity of sliding. Configurable in three different heights and two widths, it allows endless possibilities for interior configuration.

In Yabu Pushelberg’s interpretation, the interior immediately looks extraordinarily dramatic, especially the “amphitheater” configuration of the bases, where the arched marble or stone worktop and sloping end bases lend an unusual spatiality to the kitchen.

The marble-covered backrest acts as a theatrical backdrop and features shelving, with an unconventional design, left open to display what is needed; the design of the new YP handle is also innovative. Under the countertop, storage units with doors and baskets allow the functionality of the kitchen to be configured in different design solutions, suitable for every use.

Like any self-respecting stage, light must perfectly illuminate the scene. A system of LEDs integrated into the shelves is designed to ensure perfect practicality while providing a unique emotional effect. Conceal and amaze, this is the new Tivalì 2.0 by Yabu Pushelberg.

Tivalì 2.0 by Dante Bonuccelli

The 2.0 version of Tivalì designed by its creator Dante Bonuccelli is distinguished by the introduction of the new ergonomic solid wood Post handle and the alignment to the 2.0 operating columns.

The concept that guided the design was to have a kitchen, included in a useful interior space between 2.4 and 3 meters, where the scenic element prevails and cooking reaches its highest expression, comparable to an actor’s performance on stage.

Two large sliding pocket doors guard the scene, and once opened, thanks to sophisticated mechanisms, they fall back side by side into the outline of the container, revealing it. The aluminum honeycomb doors can be configured in different finishes, allowing the exterior of Tivalì to take on different potential appearances.
