Arclinea’s Family House in the Hills

On the hills of Eupilio, between the lake and the mountains a few steps from Como, a family home has been given a major makeover directed by Gianluca Tronconi’s Milan studio who chose to capture the essence of the house with the creations of Arclinea.

Creating a Contemporary Lifestyle That’s an Homage to Traditionù

The contemporary lexicon adopted by the designer has profoundly altered its appearance, especially from the perspective of volumes and the rhythm of solids and voids. The result is a residence that appears both understated and elegant, instantly recognizable from its brick facade, a clear homage to the material memory of old Lombard farmhouses.

“This family house has always been a place full of memories and happy experiences in contact with nature. But its substantial renovation was necessary to adapt it to the comforts and habits of contemporary life,” says Gianluca Tronconi.

The ground floor layout develops on the concept of hospitality, of a home designed to be shared with friends and family, where the kitchen plays a starring role.

The Captivating Touches of Arclinea

The centerpiece of the space is the Convivium island in bronze PVD with a polished gold Calacatta marbletop by Arclinea, which joins the Era System table in smoked oak, integrated with the main body. Principia cabinets and paneling, also in smoked oak, complete the kitchen.

In a more private location, within an area created with Modus System partitions, we find a wet kitchen made entirely of stainless steel.

“The layout of the island makes it possible to directly connect the food preparation area with the integrated dining area and living room,” explains Gianluca Tronconi.

The lower level rooms, along with the déhors, were also largely defined by the same idea of conviviality. The vaulted cellar, for example, is the place dedicated to tasting a collection of fine bottles.

Just outside, near the outdoor pool, next to the garden where the historic vegetable garden and family brolohave been safeguarded, a deck equipped with an outodoor Artusi kitchen by Arclinea is there to demonstrate how each and every space can be transformed into a special place for the rituals and pleasures of sharing.

“The vegetable garden holds an emotional space, full of memories and family routines, many of them related to childhood: it reminds us of the rituals of getting together to plant, harvest and cook all together. And that is why we wanted to preserve it,” Gianluca Tronconi concludes.
