Essentia by Prima Pietra

A journey beyond the boundaries of taste and scent that pairs wine, flavors, and aromatic fragrances with Tenuta Prima Pietra. The estate is organizing Essentia for July 24th, a multisensory experience that goes beyond the wine in the glass and expands to the scents of fragrant essences.

Heaven for the Senses with Source Adage

The estate’s elegant wine – the Prima Pietra IGT made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot grapes – will in fact be paired with a fragrance custom-created by the creativity of perfumers Christopher Draghi and Robert Dobay, founders of Source Adage, a niche brand that, from its place of origin in New York, has found new inspiration – and a new home – right among the vineyards and olive groves of the Tuscan coast.

The fragrance is composed of three chords, each inspired by the three moments in which the event takes place: the vineyard, the barrique cellar, and the conviviality of food. It begins in the heart of Tenuta Prima Pietra’s vineyard, which covers 11 hectares overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea isolated on each side by pristine forest; here participants encounter the first essence dedicated to nature – green and fresh, with notes of vine leaves, citrus blossoms, and grapes.

This is followed by the barrique cellar, the place where the estate’s wines are aged in oak barrels and where the intense aroma of wood creates an enveloping sensation; the second essence then recalls warm and intense atmospheres, with notes of wood, leather, ripe fruit and smoke. The final rendezvous is on the beautiful terrace of the estate with an incomparable view of the vineyard and the Tyrrhenian Sea; here the conviviality of food is combined with an essence with spicy and aromatic notes.

Essentia: A Harmony of Flavors and Scents

Each moment of the event and each of its essences is paired with a wine – Castiglion del Bosco’s Chardonnay and two vintages of Prima Pietra – along with a traditional Tuscan dish – finger food in the vineyard and barrique cellar and a first course on the terrace – revisited in a modern and creative way by the kitchen team of L’agrifoglio Restaurant in Riparbella.

At the end of the event, participants will discover the fragrance as a whole, bold and balanced, reflecting the scents of the territory and the elegant nuances of the fine Prima Pietra wine.

Tenuta Prima Pietra’s Tastings

Prima Pietra IGT Tuscany

Prima Pietra is about structure and elegance, a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The ratios may vary slightly depending on the vintage harvest and the yield of the different varietals.

Thanks to the substantial altitude of the vineyards this wine always expresses great freshness and verticality, floral and balsamic notes make it elegant and soaring on the nose. The mouth is complex, with extractive richness and polished tannins that allow great ease of drinking and beautiful smoothness.

Prima Pietra vinifies for 20 days in steel tanks at 28°C, separately for each variety. The use of indigenous yeasts allows aromas and scents to be preserved intact. At the end of the fermentation phase, the wine begins the aging process in French oak barrels for 18 months. For the first 10 months each varietal ages individually, then the blend is created, which continues aging for another 8 months.

Chardonnay IGT Toscana Tenuta Prima Pietra

Made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes, this is a wine that is fresh and fragrant. In the glass it is straw yellow with greenish highlights, inviting a fresh, straight sip. It is very open on the nose with eucalyptus/menthol notes and typical varietal fruit. On the palate, the sip is light but persistent, with a fruity, balanced finish typical of Chardonnay in extremely classic vintages.
