Nizza is Barbera

Everything is ready for Nizza è Barbera: after two years of pause, the event dedicated to Barbera d’Asti DOCG and Nizza DOCG comes back Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th May in Nizza Monferrato with a renewed program and much news.

At the Barbera Forum there will be 64 producers to meet with 300 labels in tasting Barbera d’Asti DOCG and Nizza DOCG. Guests Roccaverano dop cheese and Salame Cotto Monferrato. The novelty of the 2022 edition is the Barbera Forum, at the Foro Boario, which opens on Saturday morning.

The event is organized by the Municipality of Nizza Monferrato and the Enoteca Regionale di Nizza, with the support of the Consorzio della Barbera d’Asti e Vini del Monferrato and the Associazione Produttori del Nizza e Astesana Strada del Vino: at Palazzo Crova, home of the Enoteca Regionale del Nizza, it will be possible to visit the Museum of Taste and the ART ‘900 Gallery, while at lunch and dinner the wine tasting counter of the producers of Nizza è Barbera awaits the participants at the Osteria Vineria La Signora in Rosso.

The town will have three Wine Points, in Piazza Garibaldi, in Via Pio Corsi and in Piazza XX Settembre, with a selection of Barbera d’Asti DOCG and Nizza DOCG labels for tasting. On Sunday there will be a bike ride through the vineyards of Nizza, a Ferrari car rally, and the arrival of the historical train, which will travel through the landscapes of Langhe, Monferrato, and Roero with 1930s “centoporte” carriages.

Also of note is the Masterclass of six macro-areas of the Nizza DOCG production zone, with six different producers and a tasting guided by the Nizza Producers Association.

The program of Nizza is Barbera

On Saturday May 7th, the opening toast will be held at the Foro Boario in Piazza Garibaldi, followed by the forum and 64 producers who will be invited to present their labels of Nizza docg and Barbera d’Asti docg, to be tasted in combination with tastings organized by the Consorzio di tutela della Robiola di Roccaverano DOP and the Associazione produttori Salame Cotto Monferrato.

In the evening, in the streets and squares of Nizza’s historical center, WinePoint under the Campanon, the tower of the town hall, with tastings organized by AIS sommeliers, street food, and local gastronomic proposals by the local restaurants of Nizza.

On Sunday 8th May, the Barbera Forum will continue in the Foro Boario and, for those who wish, the tour “In bici nelle vigne del Nizza” will start, discover the cru of Nizza DOCG.

Among the other initiatives, not to be missed is the meeting between Barbera d’Asti and Ferraris, on the occasion of the Ferrari car rally organized by the Red Passion Owner’s of Turin, and the arrival of the historical train, which travels through the landscapes of Langhe, Monferrato and Roero with 1930s “centoporte” carriages, and the Masterclasses of six macro-areas of the Nizza DOCG production area with six different producers.
