The Chaise Longue Linea by Paola Lenti: A Style Icon Moves Outside

The chaise longue Linea moves outdoors thanks to new exclusive Paola Lenti fabrics.

The warm season is approaching: it’s time to reserve a corner in the garden for the new outdoor proposals of Milano Design Week, such as the chaise longue Linea by Paola Lenti.

Designed for indoor use more than 25 years ago, as topical now as it was then, Linea becomes an outdoor product thanks to the new collection of exclusive fabrics by Paola Lenti: textural and at the same time soft to the touch, surprisingly cozy and, as always, colorful.

Linea owes its name to the essential and sinuous profile that has given it an unmistakable and stainless character, above any fashion of the moment. Initially upholstered in felt, the chaise longue immediately became a style icon, winning Honorable Mention at the Compasso d’Oro in 2001.

The new fabrics in the collection join the “historical” ones with which Paola Lenti has revolutionized the outdoor furniture sector – including Aquatech, Rope T and Brio – and are the result of the tireless research activity that has always characterized the daily work of the Meda-based company.

Each fabric, from Moss to Whim to Rope T Mélange, is the result of experimentation on the processes that precede weaving: the yarns undergo technical processes that allow for bouclé, mélange, terry or chenille effect surfaces: characteristics hitherto uncommon for materials intended to withstand sunlight and contact with sea and pool water.

Linea is an outdoor chaise longue with a backrest that can be adjusted to two positions in addition to the resting position. The frame, made of cataphoresis-treated and painted steel, is complete with plastic spacers. The padding is made of non-deformable polyurethane foam in differentiated densities and is covered internally with a fixed cover in polyester fiber and polyamide. The cover is removable and is available in the collection’s outdoor fabrics.

Linea, in its original indoor version, was one of the first projects resulting from the collaboration between designer Francesco Rota and Paola Lenti and one of the products that made the company known worldwide.

In the new version, Linea is upholstered in Moss: 100% recyclable, similar to a dense terry cloth, loom-made with Rope yarns of different colors to reproduce a delicate mélange effect.
