Reimagining the Iconic Bell Silhouette with Advanced Eye-Care LED Technology and Integrated Music Box Melodies.
Ramun, founded under the creative direction of Italian legend Alessandro Mendini, debuts Bella Crystal Cut—a designer table lamp synthesizing technology, aesthetics, and visual comfort into a project of singular character.
The piece marks the contemporary evolution of the iconic Bella, both bearing the unmistakable creative signature of Marcel Wanders. Reinterpreting the bell-shaped silhouette, the designer introduces a compact, versatile iteration tailored for refined residential, hospitality, and lifestyle environments. Its multifaceted crystal-cut surface reflects light through a vibrant interplay, transforming surrounding spaces into luminous landscapes. The harmonious proportions recall the archetype of the traditional lamp, translating it into a sculptural presence: the domed luminous body rests on an essential base designed to ensure both visual balance and functional stability.
“Bella is light and sound made fun. With Bella, we’ve created something that helps people express themselves in a charming way in order to build friendship and connection” – Marcel Wanders
Faithful to Ramun’s design philosophy, Bella Crystal Cut integrates advanced LED technology developed to ensure maximum visual comfort. Developed under the guidance of world-renowned ophthalmologists, the lamp embodies Ramun’s philosophy of “Ideal Light for Your Eyes.” The light source emits no UV or infra-red radiations, is flicker-free and precisely adjustable, supporting everyday activities while reducing eye strain. It is also free from harmful blue light, operates without heat emission, and has received RoHS certification as well as the highest rating in photobiological safety. The wireless rechargeable structure, combined with intuitive touch controls offering 20 brightness levels, enhances versatility of use, making it easier to transport and to fit in different environments.
The integration of selected classic melodies further enriches the experience, featuring compositions from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Schubert, Felix Mendelssohn and Sergei Rachmaninoff. As a tribute to Marcel Wanders’ Dutch heritage, the lamp opens with a special composition by Johannes Bernardus van Bree. All melodies have been re-arranged by a Swiss master of music box craftsmanship.
The Bella was awarded Best Lighting of the Year at the 2022 Modern Furniture + Lighting Awards organised by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and Global Design News. Today, Bella remains a global bestseller and a favourite among international celebrities. More than a design object, Bella carries symbolic meaning as a “light of happiness,” believed to illuminate the future of its recipient, making it a cherished gift for loved ones.
The lamp is part of the broader project 7Stars, originally conceived by Alessandro Mendini and passionately carried forward by the brand. 7Stars is composed of seven table lamps, derived from the reinterpretation of the iconic Campanello, which initiated the project. Inspired by the Big Dipper, the programme explores decorative lighting as a true everyday companion: objects designed not only to illuminate spaces, but also to enrich moments, from daily life to special occasions. Each lamp represents a “star” of this ideal constellation, expressing a shared vision centred on light quality, emotional experience and the intimate relationship between object and user.
Bella Crystal Cut interprets light as a narrative element: discreet when switched off, and luminous sculpture when illuminated.
