Cinema & Champagne on the Beach

Spotlight on Summer 2022 at Villa Sant’Andrea in the Belmond Hotel, Taormina Mare, which will again present the now-iconic Cinema & Champagne on the Beach.

Partners for Cinema & Champagne

The event features an array of exceptional partners, starting with the Taormina Film Festival, which invited international actors and directors for the first event held on June 28th. Then there will be Moët & Chandon, whose Champagne will be the toast of all guests who also choose to spend the following evenings on July the 27th and August the 23rd on the hotel’s private beach to enjoy the screening of two art-house films.

Taormina’s Lovely Villa Sant’Andrea in the Belmond Hotel

This year’s film festival opened with an exceptional event, thanks to the synergy between Villa Sant’Andrea and the Taormina Film Festival, now in its 68th year.

June 28th saw the premiere of Tell it Like a Woman, a collective film dedicated to women and made solely by female directors, which was screened concurrently both on the beach in Taormina and at the Teatro Antico.

The film is a collection of seven exciting short films shot in India, Japan, the United States and Italy, dealing with topical issues, including gender equality. Right in the Bel Paese, in Anguillara, the special guest of the evening at Villa Sant’Andrea, Eva Longoria, played the protagonist of Lagonegro. Directed by Lucia Puenzo, the film tells the story of a workaholic North American woman who came to Italy to take care of a surprising inheritance.

A Toast with Moët & Chandon

Moët & Chandon, the Maison that helped introduce Champagne to the world, has always been the Champagne of choice to mark moments of sharing related to the world of cinema. Guests attending the evening toasted with the unique and inimitable style of Moët Impérial, paired with an exquisite dinner curated by Chef Agostino D’Angelo.

Then, on the first exclusive evening in June, in the tranquility of the Bay of Mazzarò, the private area of the cabanas will once again be transformed into a cinema under the stars for two occasions open to the public: on July the 27th, for the viewing of To Rome With Love, and on August the 23rd, when Sotto il sole della Toscana will be screened.

A selection of canapés from a typical movie night, reinterpreted in a Sicilian key by Chef Agostino D’Angelo, will be served directly in the cabana accompanied by Moët Impérial Champagne by Moët & Chandon during the screening of the films.
