Anthill: Giuseppe Iannotti’s Standout Cocktail Bar in Naples

Experience a signature drink made by expert mixologists paired with a delicious menu of small bites and a fabulous view of Naples at Anthill, the Cocktail Bar by chef Giuseppe Iannotti, located on the top floor of Gallerie d’Italia in Via Toledo 177 in the Intesa Sanpaolo Museum.

A stand-alone venue that joins Luminist, the ground-floor space dedicated to the café and bistro, Anthill is Giuseppe Iannotti’s latest project, a completely new proposal in Naples, a space dedicated to signature mixology, where fun goes hand in hand with the originality of the drinks on offer and the extensive tapas menu designed by the chef. The Executive Chef of Anthill is Antonio Grazioli, the same as at Luminist, assisted by Marco Langella.

Anthill is developed both in the indoor room, with twenty-five small tables overlooking the gleaming bar where the mixologists work, led by head bartender Anna Garruti, and in the outdoor part, developed on the very large planted terrace that looks out to the Neapolitan sea, offering a unique view of the Certosa di San Martino, where up to 76 guests can take their seats.

Already from the cocktail menu, the feeling one gets is that of an absolutely unique project, for the Neapolitan city as well as for the rest of Italy: the packaging, recalls the white and pink of Tachipirina packets – basically Italy’s Tylenol, which guests can keep at the end of the experience an invitation to overcome daily difficulties and anxieties with a gastronomic placebo.

Anthill: The Cocktails

The cocktail menu is divided between classic drinks with a twist and the location’s signature creations. There are 10 signature cocktails, true stories in the form of drinks and mystery ingredients, each of which has its own container that tells, along with the drinks’ raw materials, a character or anecdote related to Campanian culture and literature.

The source of inspiration for these boozy journeys is the “Cunto de li cunti,” “the tale of tales,” a Baroque literary text that brings together 50 different fairy tales. An imaginative journey into the most secret Neapolitan history, to be made through the five senses involved in the tasting. The names of the signatures anticipate the story that is revealed only at the time of the tasting, from the Drunken Donkey to the Fairy’s Blasphemy, from the Crystal Tear to the 3 Gifts, to Mastro Grillo’s Medicine.

Anthill: The Dishes

Anthill combines the mixology experience with the gastronomic experience, giving the choice of dozens of dishes in small portions, Spanish tapas style, such as caviar and salmon tortillas, Genoese Tacos, as well as O’ muss and red shrimp, Paella, Frittatina alla carbonara, Pacchero ripieno al ragù.

Desserts include Bread gianduia, oil, and maldon salt; Crêpes Suzette, Churros, Millefoglie croissant, and strawberries.

From food to drinks, this spot is sure to offer a laidback evening to be enjoyed in every single detail.
