Step into the ambiance of a lounge where the Prussian blue velvets of sofas and seats are warmed by the cherry wood of bookcases and the bar’s striking brass bottle rack and the Mediterranean references in the colors of the interiors. Located in Via del Gianicolo in Rome, the Amaro Lobby Bar is cocktail bar that is part of the prestigious Melia Hotels International collection at the Villa Agrippina Gran Melià hotel.
A welcoming and inviting location that renews its food offerings for the season, focusing on Iberian flavors and a high-end coctelerìa, where one can enjoy aperitifs and dinners based on premium cocktails to be paired with Spanish dishes and tapas, all strictly “para compartir.”
Iberian Flavors at Villa Agrippina Gran Melià
The new menu is once again the result of a collaboration between Alfonso D’Auria, Italian chef at Villa Agrippina Gran Melià, and Miguel Martin Robles, Spanish chef at Palacio del Los Duques, Madrid’s splendid Gran Melià, all in homage to the group’s innate Spanish soul.
Highlights include a variety of tasty and typical dishes and tapas such as mini bocadillos de chipiron a la andaluza (small squid sandwiches), the tasty croquetas de Cabrales y manzana (Asturian cheese and quince croquettes) el jamon iberico, the mouthwatering patatas bravas, the special pulpo à Feira, and the iconic tortilla.
Definitely the star, to be tried on the menu and symbol of sharing par excellence, paella, offered in three variations: the most classic de pescado, paella de puchero for those who love meat, and paella veggie.
The food and wine proposal is complemented by the new drink list designed by Amaro Lobby Bar’s new bar manager, Abram Codazzo. The selection of signature cocktails, carefully created to offer an experience from Mediterranean shores to international flavors, contains some unmissable signature cocktails such as “Cucu Tonic,” “Moulin Vert” and “El Mariachi.”
Classic and new cocktails together with the Iberian menu will be the protagonists of the most intriguing moments of Amaro’s new 2023-2024 season, such as the Thursday Aperitif dedicated to trend setter locals or the Lazy Sunday Aperitif scheduled every Sunday to live the aperitif moment among tapas, music and mixology.
Also not to be missed is the Happy Family Brunch, every Sunday from 12 to 3:30 p.m., a food and wine experience dedicated to families. The brunch menu offers a wide selection of Italian and international classics: avocado toast, club sandwiches, savory croissants, patatas bravas, scrambled eggs, burgers, baked pastas, timbales, fresh pastas, roast beef and several main courses.
Rounding out the brunch food and wine offerings is the rich dessert corner prepared every Sunday by Villa Agrippina Gran Melià’s in-house bakery, which ranges from apple-pie, waffles, carrot cake, tarts, selection of cookies, grandma’s cake, chocolate cake, brownies, muffins and fresh fruit.
